The piece is interesting overall. I like the very teenage vibe it gives off and the pair of slightly out of shot figures feels very post modern. That said it also feels very tied to that teenage vibe of angst which feels very 1990's to me. Not that it is bad to be tied there, it just means there is enough done in that style that this piece lacks some punch.

The fact that these are iPhone snaps almost made me rank it higher for technical merit but also that you were trying to capture something else and this was a bit of a Bob Ross happy accident means I couldn't mark it too high. Also it feels a touch washed out to me, though this was part of that overexposure reminiscent of late 1990's photos.

The best part of this is the clarity with which it captures that feeling of high school. Mild isolation, a focus on self, the concept of "cool" all seem to be typified in this image. While it plays on some color choices and angles that are very genre related it really is a very well done piece of that genre.
