Dangerous Images
I've put together a
news article regarding the recently passed UK Criminal Justice & Immigration Bill which will criminalise the possession of adult, staged, consensual violent pornography with draconian penalties of up to 3 years in prison. Crazy.
I'm looking forward to your debate around this matter, but I do encourage you to view it without prejudice and most importantly, whilst not freaking out about potentially being locked up because you have a pic of Betty Paige in a corset, or that you bought your girlfriend a pair of fluffy handcuffs for valentines day and can't remember where you put the polaroid pics of her grinning like a fool whilst you pretended you had lost the key.
The question that follows on from the bill is this: if the activities or material in question are not abusive, should they be outlawed because some (or even most!!??) people find them distasteful ?
It is worth remembering that a majority once took that view on homosexuality.
Please bear in mind that this law is for UK only - and whilst the rest of Europe will most likely bring in their own version, deviantART falls under American law.

It's post-ironic... Something-or-other.
It's troubling that the reference is to images which only appear to be real. What about a movie that had a kidnap scene? Surely most kidnapping films show actors staging a kidnap, and most viewers of such scenes understand this. Must the scene appear lifelike? But then what if a lifelike scene is entirely computer-generated?
Why's it just anus, breasts or genitals?
Having a quick shag in the kitchen might put your bum too close to the oven and result in burning in places you wouldn't want to tell your mother about - doesn't this mean it's a dangerous act too?
Stop giggling!!

I'm sure it would be more productive to see if there's anything that could be done to identify and help these people, rather than coming up with confusing legislation like this.

Does this mean we can't say 'slap & tickle' now? should it just be 'tickle' and would that not make Mr Tickle from the Mr Men some sort of pervert ?!? oh dear it's a right pickle.

We don't love "because", but "despite".
This is why there is no such thing as perfect. A flawless beauty would be blank without any appeal nor character. Its scars are what defines it and what inspires emotion... from that moment, it becomes art.

Violent imagery doesn't cause people to be violent, it may trigger people who are violent by nature to think that it is condoned, and acceptable, imo -- but this blame culture against the internet in particular is nothing short of a witch hunt.

I've not read a great deal about this legislation, but news stories about the internet interest me and I tend to look out for them.
Last time I checked, violent crime predated the internet. Throwing all this blame around is so useless.
