Art for AIDS Orphans

deviantART will celebrate it's 8th birthday on Thursday 7th August 2008. In celebration, we will donate 10% of the total print sales from our Store made on the 7th August 2008 to Project FOCUS: Art for AIDS Orphans in Uganda, a project which is registered with Global Giving.

This is great, really. Not only it makes me proud to be a part of the community (even though I don't sell much prints...) but I'm always pleased to see that a such big organization keeps moving, and simply to see the work of the staff in action

Thumbs way up for the cause! I think this may be one of my new favorites.

Why only a day? Why not a week or the whole month? I think I would prefer to donate directly and support my favorite artists on a different day. Despite your best intentions, for some reason (at least to me) a single day feels too much like a shady way to boost sales.
